The road trip went off without a hitch and we arrived in Sydney at about 10:30am, 17hrs after we set off.
The week prior to this event was slightly more stressful than others with vehicle modifications put on hold for the most part of Tuesday due to a power outage which affected half of Adelaide.
It wasn't until everything was put back on the car and tested that we knew we would be making the event, thankfully everything was in working order.
Simon went out for the first practice session and had the car dialled in almost instantly. The car felt great and we were ready for qualifying!
Simon was in against Tasmania's Matt Harvey, Matt is 17 years old and won the last round in Western Australia so we knew it would be a hard battle. Simon was awarded the win following a great chase lap and progressed into the Top 8.
'I did notice Rob taking a wider line to maintain proximity, we swapped around for chase lap and I followed him into first corner, lost a bit of proximity between turn 1 and 2 and then regained it chasing him up the hill. Rob slowed the car down more then I expected before the transition between the 2nd to last and final clipping point which resulted in me having little room to move, I clipped his rear wheel with my front wheel and damage occurred.'
My crew along with other helpful teams such as Broadbent motorsport helped install it all which included the installation of a M8 bolt to hold the lower coil over bolt in due to the fact the borrowed coilover and new knuckle didn’t quite match up.. I was given instructions to just drive and not push too hard… The replacement front wheel also was one of my rears so different width and offset with a Sailun tyre on it and that didn’t help matters… '
Simon was awarded 4th place and was commended on his determination to get back out on track and battle.
This event would not have been possible without our sponsors, so thanks goes to:
