The team at SMDrift.com.au regret to advise that we will not be competing in Round 4 of the Australian Drifting Grand Prix at the end of April at Calder Park Thunderdome.
How did this happen? read on to find out!
The Australian Drifting Grand Prix Round 2 was held in Western Australia at Barbagallo Raceway on 7th & 8th December 2013. This event was proving to be one of the biggest on the Australian drifting calendar in terms of travel and also with stellar guests; Robbie Nishida, Daigo Saito and Andy Gray.
Following ADGP Round One we sure have been busy with the S14! We had the gearbox/clutch issues looked at and hopefully resolved and then got in some well deserved seat time in the new car.
On Sunday 6th October 2013, late in the afternoon the crew of SMDrift were all smiles, why? We had just completed a marathon build of a new car, competed in it virtually untested and obtained a 12th place finish for the weekend!
September 13 2013. Adelaide. The 100% Australian owned and operated lubricant company Anglomoil is to sponsor the assault by experienced driver Simon Michelmore on the 2013/14 Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting Grand Prix.
Simon and Jenna at SMDrift.com.au announced the deal today at the same time as the unveiling of their new 400 kilowatt Nissan S14,
"We are very excited because Anglomoil has played an important part in our success over the years. We only use their products in our car and now we have their backing as well as their specialty products. Drifting is a harsh environment for engine lubricants with extreme operating temperatures, high rev's and stop-start racing and we have found that the best product for reliability and performance of our high performance engines is the fully synthetic Anglomoil Roadmaster 500 API SN 10W/40."
Simon began competing in the highly competitive world of drifting in 2004 and has collected a lot of silverware since - his best result in the previous season was first outright at the SA Stadium Drift.
"Anglomoil is proud to be associated with the SMDrift team. Simon and Jenna run a very professional outfit and the results show they are one of the leading drifting teams in the nation", says Anglomoil's James Taliana, "Apart from their on-track performance it has been exciting for us to see the mechanical advantages we provide through our products. For example, there is no sludging or water build up in the engine. When they drain the oil is comes out cleaner than other performance oils used in the past. And, the block, crank, rods and pistons have never had to be rebuilt."
The SMDrift Nissan S14 has been built and tested by another sponsor, Garage7, which is the South Australian distributor for Anglomoil products. They prefer Anglomoil products for both their motor sport and non-motorsport customers including engine oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, engine coolant and grease.
"My previous S14 was very reliable and gave me a lot of good results over the past five years but we decided it was time for a brand new car for the 2013/14 championship. This car has an RB26/30DET turbo engine with almost 400 kilowatts at wheels. I can't wait for the first round at Mallala Motorsport Park on October 5-6", adds Simon.
The 2013/14 Australian Drifting Grand Prix includes four rounds at Mallala, Barbagello, Sydney Motorsport Park and Calder Thunderdome.

To many the idea of a holiday to the UK doesn’t exactly scream adventure. Thankfully we managed to sneak some cool stuff into our 4 week holiday to the UK & Ireland, although I think we went to more castles than we did racetracks – but I’m not one to complain about that!
